As the blessed month of Ramadan approaches its end, it brings with it a sense of joy, reflection, and a unique spirit of togetherness. For many, Ramadan is more than just a time of fasting; it is a time of profound connection with community and acts of kindness illuminating humanity’s true essence.

In a recent conversation with Abdul Mohammed, a Senior Business Development advisor based in Garissa, Kenya and a member of the Muslim community. Abdul, shared with us his deep love for Ramadan and the cherished memories it holds. Here's a glimpse into his reflections

Fondest Ramadan Memories

Abdul reminisced about the warmth of sharing meals with neighbours during Ramadan.

‘’We'd prepare trays of freshly made samosas, and the aroma would waft through the air, mingling with the delicious smells coming from neighbouring kitchens. We'd exchange plates – samosas for their kebabs – creating a delightful fusion of flavours and strengthening the bonds of community. The spirit of giving and togetherness was truly heartwarming.’’

Unique Community Spirit During Ramadan

During Ramadan, the community comes alive with a unique vibrancy. From the gentle knocks on doors to wake neighbours up for the pre-dawn meal (Suhoor) to the shared gatherings at mosques for Taraweeh prayers, every moment is infused with a sense of camaraderie.

The breaking of the fast (Iftar) becomes a communal celebration, where people come together to share not only food but also stories and laughter. This shared experience of fasting and prayer strengthens the bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood within the community, creating an atmosphere of inclusivity and love.

Acts of Kindness During Ramadan

Beyond the walls of their homes, Abdul emphasises the importance of extending kindness to those in need during Ramadan. The spirit of giving, known as Sadaqah and Zakat, flourishes this month.

Whether donating food items or organising community meals at the mosque, the community rallies together to ensure that everyone, regardless of their circumstances, can partake in the blessings of Ramadan. Acts of generosity, such as sharing extra portions of Iftar with those less fortunate, exemplify the true essence of compassion and empathy that defines Ramadan.

In the spirit of inclusivity and love that Ramadan fosters, we extend our heartfelt wishes of Ramadan Kareem to our Muslim brothers and sisters worldwide. May this blessed month be filled with peace, joy, and abundant blessings for all.

Ramadan/Eid Mubarak from Tammwe!!
